Bhutanese Refugees in Pittsburgh Presents Cultural Dances.
Nov 27, 2012. Bhutanese children presented two cultural dances and introduced the growing Bhutanese community to other communities in the program “A CELEBRATION OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND PROGRESS IN THE SOUTH PITTSBURGH HILLTOP TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2012 ” Program at 6:30 until 9:00 p.m. at St. Paul of the Cross Monastery Retreat Center.
Leslie Aizenman (Director of Refugee Services, Jewish Family and Children Services) talked about history of Bhutanese refugees, resettlement process in United States and the culture & tradition. She introduced Bhutanese Community association of Pittsburgh to the people in the summit.
Balaram Gurung, Uma Gautam, Lachi Gurung and Eight dancers: Damanta Kafley, Geeta Acharya, Bandana Phuyal, Bindu Neopane, Tulasha Neopane, Puja Neopane, Asmita Bhandari, and Binisa Bhattrai attended the summit. Our Dancers presented two cultural dances and all dancers were awesome as always. It looked like the dance was new to everyone present in the summit and was appreciated by everyone.
The check of $100 was donated to the Bhutanese Community Association of Pittsburgh (BCAP) by Patricia Murphy (Executive Director of Hilltop Alliance). The credit goes to the dancers.
